Rochdale bid is a “Yes Vote”

AST Hampsons are delighted that the vote to have a Business Improvement District (BID) in Rochdale was a landslide success. A BID is agreed when businesses within a specific geographical area vote to invest collectively to improve their trading environment.

Our senior partner Peter Taylor, who was on the steering committee which resulted in the successful result, will now be one of the directors of the BID company going forward, which will be tasked with organising and running the BID for the next 5 years.

Peter is  proud of Rochdale as the town where he was born, raised and has worked all his life. Peter’s family have been practising law in Rochdale for five generations and Peter did not hesitate to take up the opportunity to get involved with the Rochdale BID when invited, working alongside similarly minded businesses with the core aim of improving and promoting Rochdale.

Peter says:

“Now that local businesses have given the BID their overwhelming support it will be up to all of us on the BID committee to make sure that we are wise and creative in the way that we utilise the funds that will be available to us. This will complement the programme of investment that we can all see is presently being made in our town, promoting and showing it for what it is – a unique blend of history and opportunity going forward.”

Take a look at this short video in which Peter sets out why the BID is so important:

We wish Peter and all those involved success in running the BID. We hope that local businesses will enjoy participating in this exciting venture. Since 2004, over 300 BIDs have been proposed and approved by business communities in England and Wales, and this is our chance!
