Senior Private Client Solicitor
Location: Bury & Rochdale
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full and Part Time considered
We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Private Client Solicitor to join our well-established Private Client Department.
About the Role
You will manage a varied caseload covering all aspects of private client work, including:
- Drafting complex wills
- Estate and succession planning
- Probate and the administration of taxable and non-taxable estates
- Inheritance tax planning
- The creation, administration, variation and termination of trusts
- Advising trustees, beneficiaries and settlors
- Lasting powers of attorney
- Advising elderly and vulnerable clients
You will be expected to manage your own caseload while working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm. The role will also involve supervising and supporting junior members of the department, contributing to internal technical development and maintaining the high standards of client care for which the firm is known.
You will have the opportunity to develop existing client and professional relationships and contribute to the department’s business development activities, including networking, seminars, client events and the development of professional referrer relationships.
About You
You will be a qualified solicitor with:
- A minimum of 10 years’ PQE in private client work
- Full STEP membership and qualification
- Extensive experience in wills, probate, estate administration and succession planning
- Strong technical knowledge of trusts and substantial experience advising on trust creation, administration and taxation
- Experience dealing with complex, high-value and taxable estates
- A sound understanding of inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax as they apply to estates and trusts
- Experience advising business owners and clients with complex family or financial circumstances
- The ability to manage a busy caseload independently and meet agreed financial and performance targets
- Excellent drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and a sensitive, professional approach to clients
- Experience supervising, mentoring or developing junior fee earners
- A commercially aware and proactive approach to business development
- A strong commitment to compliance, file management and excellent client service
