Please can you tell us who you are and what your role is in the firm?
I’m a solicitor of over 30 years' experience, and head of clinical negligence & personal injury at AST Hampsons. I have worked across a number of firms throughout my career and have built up a specialism in clinical negligence. I work with a wide variety of clients within the local area and further afield and would encourage anyone who might have an enquiry in this area to give me a call to chat this through.
What is a clinical negligence claim?
A clinical negligence claim is claim for damages for injury as a result of failure by a clinician to provide the requisite standard of care. We have acted for many clients over the years who have suffered as a result of negligence and helped provide compensation for their injuries and loss. If you have been affected, we are here to help, please just get in touch.
What do I need to do to make a claim?
Initially give us a call and we can discuss your claim with you. We will help explain the process and guide you through what you can expect from us and the process. We will request your authority to obtain and review your medical records to give your more of a steer on your chances of success. We understand that you have been through a difficult time, and are here to secure a settlement for your loss and suffering.
How are you able to help me with my claim?
I will advise you of the prospects of establishing liability, and will then obtain expert medical evidence (if necessary) on your behalf. I will then run your claim, keeping you updated on developments as your case progresses.
How does it work with fees? Do you offer ‘no win no fee’? Will this cost me anything?
We offer advice on a no win no fee basis. If you would like to find out more, please give us a call and we can explain how this works and might help you.
What is the best way to contact you?
You can contact us in a number of ways. Although our doors are closed to walk in appointments at the moment you can telephone my assistant Karen Worrall on 01706 767005 or email on [email protected]. We have the facility to set up Zooms, Facetime, Teams and What’s App appointments to help with any questions or queries you might have.
What has been your most interesting/ rewarding case to date?
It’s hard to say, but one that comes to mind involved a misplaced catheter, found to have been positioned outside of the bladder, serious consequences ensuing. The allegations advanced included inappropriate use of a blind (as opposed to fibre optic camera guided) procedure and that this should not in any event have been undertaken by the A & E Dept. On behalf of the NHS the assertions both as to the appropriate procedure and requisite level of expertise were subsequently accepted.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself/ your interests!
