In this current Covid 19 pandemic we would urge all parents to work together with regards to arrangements for their children.
Children should be maintaining a positive relationship with both parents and not just one.
Government guidance issued alongside the Stay at Home Rules on 23 March says:
“Where parents do not live in the same household, children under 18 can be moved between their parents’ home”
Clearly the safety and wellbeing of a child is priority and you as parents should together assess the circumstances sensibly.
The best way to deal with these difficult times is for parents to communicate with one another about worries and what would be a good practical solution.
As parents you can be creative and think out of the box as to how your child can have contact or stay in contact with the other parent if you decide together that your child should not move between households for a time. Patience and co-operation is key.
It all comes down to you as parents and your willingness to work together for your child.
If you would like further guidance we are happy to help.
