What ever the reason you may wish to Transfer the ownership of a property, AST Hampsons Property Law team are here to help.

The process is called a Transfer of Equity and involves either adding or removing a person or persons to or from the title of the property. Some of the reasons you may choose to transfer a property are;

  • If the family has suffered a bereavement and the property needs to be transferred under the terms of a will.
  • If you have a new partner or are just married and wish to transfer your existing home into joint names.
  • If the interest in your property needs to be transferred following a breakdown of a relationship. 
  • If Your tax adviser has advised you to transfer a share of the property to another member of the family.
  • If you wish to gift your property to a family member.

If there is a mortgage over the property then you will need to obtain consent from your mortgage lender before making the transfer and once this is obtained our Property Law team will deal with the transfer for you, smoothly and efficiently keeping you up to date with the progress but ensuring you experience as little stress as possible along the way.
