AST Hampsons was formed in January 2001 by the merger of the firms Atherton Standring Taylor (AST) and Hampsons incorporating Toomey Goodwin & Co.

AST was the product of a merger which took place in 1989 between Athertons, who had practiced in Rochdale since 1968 and Standring Taylor & Co which was established in 1852.

Hampsons was formed initially as a six partner practice in January 1991 by four firms, namely Hampson & Co, Freer Healy & Co, David Feingold & Co and Brody & Co. In May 1989 Hampsons merged with the firm Toomey Goodwin & Co to form the practice of Hampsons incorporating Toomey Goodwin & Co.

In 2003, we amalgamated with Warhurst & Co who had practiced in Bury since 1962.
